Week 5 Activities

Last week, as part of our rotations, we used the dizzy giddy to help build children's balance and their upper body strength so that they can sit up and sit still at the required times. The children loved using it and even I had a go! It was lots of fun. The children also had a challenge to use paper, plastic bags, plastic sticks, sellotape etc to design something to keep them or a friend dry in the rain. There were some fabulous designs of raincoats and umbrellas but unfortunately we were unable to put them to the test as the sun decide to shine instead.

The Gingerbread Man

We have been reading the gingerbread man story and we decided to design and make boats to help the Gingerbread Man get across the river. Here are our junk material boats and us testing them in stream down by the forest. Most of the boats were a success however the Gingerbread Man got a little soggy at times and even went for a couple of swims!!

Measurement exploration

This week the students explored using unifix cubes to find out how tall they were, and how long their hand and foot was. It was lots of fun and lots of counting.
