On Friday we were lucky to have our visit from the kindy. They had lots of children to bring and meet us this time which was very exciting. As always the Pod 1 students really looked froward to seeing the staff and students from Hurupaki Kindy. We shared a story about 10 clowns with them and they even joined in.

Kiwi Predators
As part of our inquiry on kiwi we have been learning about all of the different predators. We were very lucky when a possum was trapped in the wetlands and we were able to see a possum up close. Miss Tyson shared lots of her knowledge about possums with us, she was also able to answer lots of our questions.

Sparky the Kiwi Visits
At the end of Term 3 we were very lucky to have Mr Webb and Sparky from the Whangarei Bird Recovery Centre visit us in Pod 1. Sparky is a one-legged kiwi and has been hand reared by Mr Webb after being found as a young bird, caught in a trap. We were all thrilled to be able to see a kiwi up close and touch him too. Sparky put on a great display of finding and eating worms!
